If the manual says that there are no parts which you can replace or it is printed on the body of the machine then ask the supplier to replace the bulb since it is still under guarantee for twelve months. They may say that it is a consumable item and not covered under the guarantee but argue that if it is consumable then why are you not allowed to replace it. If they still argue then go to the trading standards department in your local authority.

This is an area in electronics for which I have no experience. I believe that the power output by the magnetron is determined by the circuit it is used in, and by the power supply that provides power to it. It is not determined by the magnetron itself. However, if the rating of the magnetron is too small, it will overheat and fail prematurely.

Is it safe to run my GE microwave with outside glass on the door broken?

My grand daughter who is two, broke the outside glass on our six month old GE microwave. It didn't break through to the inside glass, or effect the operation of the microwave.
Is it still save to use?

If it broke the thin perforated metal "net" that is usually fused to the glass, then no, it is not safe, microwave energy will escape through the hole and cook whatever is in front of the door
